Pinterest: Autumn Fashion Wish List

I feel like my Pinterest fashion boards went from white cotton dresses to cosy blanket capes faster than you can say Pumpkin Spice Latte. It is officially autumn and I can't wait to get some new clothing for the colder weather. Here's what I've got my eye on/can't wait to wear.
Image sources clockwise from top left: gurl.com, bloglovin.com, popsu.gr, urbanoutfitters.com, seasonswiththestrattons.com
Clockwise from top left:

Brown Leather Jacket- I've had to wave goodbye to my trusty Warehouse autumn jacket- it was literally falling apart- and have instead "borrowed" an Oasis dark brown leather one to see me through (thanks mum). I love the colour combination of dark brown with burnt orange, so I'm definitely going to find myself a top or jumper in this colour.

Faux Fur Gilet- I love how these gilets add some texture and warmth. I've seen lots of longer ones that I reckon are going to be 'the thang' this season, in both black and brown. I think they'd also look cute under a coat in Winter and definitely keep you warm!

Blanket Cape- When it gets cold and I'm indoors I often resort to 'wearing' my blanket as an extra layer...and apparently fashion is now saying I can do this outside?! I have a feeling owning one of these would make cold walks to 9am lectures almost half bearable and allow me to live out my 'pyjama aesthetic' to full effect.

Button-Up Black Corduroy Skirt- These button-up A-line skirts shot right back onto the shelves this summer- they're so nineties, I love them! I want a black one for autumn to wear with opaque tights and big chunky boots.

Quilted Gilet- Finally, whatever your opinion on these, I totally own one. They're so J.Crew/yummy mummy but they're super cosy and do actually keep you warm. Add a big tartan scarf and a knit jumper and I'm all in.

What are you excited to wear this Autumn? Let me know and check out my Pinterest for more autumn style inspo xo

What I Wore: Berlin

Hello all! I've just got back from Germany's capital- a wonderful city that I seriously loved visiting. I figured I would do an outfit post followed by a travel diary post (or two) that I will publish in a few days (if I can sift through my mass of photos and put together something readable!)

The weather was divine- I even managed to get a slight tan (unheard of for my vampiric skin minus the beach) so this is definitely a summer approach to the city. I was only there for a few days so obviously some items are repeated...but here's what I wore in Berlin!
Day 1
Dress: Red Herring | Sandals: New Look | Bag: Hobbs NW3 Baystone

As soon as we got off the plane I was desperate to change out of my travel outfit. The air in Berlin can get quite muggy and the sun was scorching...this plus the bustle of the city left me feeling pretty claustrophobic in anything other than a dress as casual and light as this! I've done a post on this outfit already (here) but my love for this dress in the summer is eternal. To add, this Hobbs bag is the perfect size for exploring- I used it every day!

Photo taken along the River Spree, Friedrich-Ebert-Platz

Day 2
Dress: Primark | Trainers: Nike Roshe | Bag: Hobbs NW3 Baystone | Hat: Atmosphere

The coolest day of the week (though still far from cool) called for my beloved grey maxi and comfy trainers in order to explore the city's museums and memorials. Everyone in Berlin (locals and tourists alike) dresses pretty casually, so trainers and dresses are totally the norm. The humidity nevertheless wreaked havoc on my frizz-prone hair- hats were definitely a must during my stay!

Day 3
Top: The White Company | Shorts: Warehouse | Bag: Hobbs NW3 Baystone Hat: H&M  | Sandals: New Look

For a day in the arty plazas of the city I opted for simple black and white (a nice contrast to the bright paintings or am I simply justifying my unambitious colour choices?) This white cotton blouse is a really easy top to wear and these wide silk shorts were a cool option in the heat.

Day 4
Dress: 18 And East | Trainers: Nike Roshe | Bag: Hobbs NW3 Baystone

By the final day my feet were exhausted: as much as I wanted to wear sandals with this dress, I just couldn't face them! Comfy shoes on, this dress was a good choice for enjoying a river boat tour. A quick change into sandals made it look a little less casual (perfect for tea and cake later on at the beautiful Fassbender & Rausch Chocolate House.) The print on this is so gorgeous and I love the belt at the front as an extra bit of detail.

Look out for a more detailed post on my time in the city coming soon xo

Pins Of The Week/Weekly Chit Chat #3

This poorly-maintained feature is back! Apologies..I've been pretty rubbish at blogging the past few weeks, but my Pinterest (as always) has been alive and well. When I go quiet on here rest assured I'll be pinning away regardless. Here's what I've been loving this week!

  • I finally got my hair done after a long long period of procrastination. I went through a phase of being red but quickly realised how high maintenance the colour is. Instead, I had my locks chopped to shoulder length and dyed dark (it's still got some red coming through but I quite like it.) I was unhappy with it at first but I think it's what needed to happen. And how hot does KP look with, essentially, the same chop? I need to learn that my hair is never going to be long and silky...so why not embrace short and crazy instead? (Just convincing myself over here.)
  • Clothing wise, all I'm lusting after is shirts: plaid, chambray, denim, you name it and I probably want it. The weather in England is a little glum again but definitely not cold, so a shirt is a perfect option for a casual daytime look. Or anytime look. I like to sleep in shirts too so I'm quite literally living in them.
  • I'm off to Berlin next week so have begun thinking about what I want to pack. I think a grey maxi and a big felt hat is going to be my go-to look. Anyone been to Berlin? Please leave me your tips on exploring the city or leave links to blog posts if you've documented your travels! I'm really excited to visit so I will definitely be doing a post/posts on my time when I return so watch this space if you're interested.
  • The above advice should be employed by all and we'd have a very nice world to live in.

Thank you for sticking with me in my absence! Alas, I will be away next week and no, I don't have any posts scheduled (I'm not one of those organised bloggers...yet) but I will be back with some snaps from my travels.
How has your week been? As always, thank you for reading xo

How To Take A Maxi Dress From Day To Night

A simple grey maxi dress is one of my favourite things to wear: not only is it comfy but it's also incredibly versatile. Perfect for a casual day out and a great choice for travel (read my Airport Fashion Picks here if you haven't already) maxis can easily be dressed up for the evening as well. Here's how I like to do it!

Daytime
Dress: Primark | Shirt: Next | Hat: Atmosphere | Trainers: Nike Roshe | Necklace: Acessorise Watch: Next

Keeping it super casual in the daytime is the key! However, I do often feel like this dress needs a little clinch at the waist. A plaid shirt does just the job without the need for a belt whilst adding a touch of colour. I'm loving casual dresses/skirts with trainers at the minute, so this felt like the natural pairing. This straw hat is great for sunny days, though I'm secretly lusting after an old-school baseball cap (don't ask why, I can't explain it!) I love this outfit for everyday casual summer style.

Evening
Dress: Primark | Hat: Whistles | Belt: Zara | Clutch: John Lewis | Sandals: Ugly Duckling | Watch: Next | Lipstick: Clinique Berry Freeze

To dress this maxi up I like to add a little touch of bling and a few extra elements. This clutch is seriously sparkly but the hat and casual sandals keep the outfit wearable. I love this white studded belt from Zara for some extra detail. I like the keep my accessories 'city chic' (lol) to avoid the 'holiday' look that a maxi can often veer towards.

That's all folks! I hope you like the way I take this outfit from day to night. I personally prefer to reserve printed maxis for abroad, but a plain simple one can be a great addition to any everyday wardrobe. I would love to know how you style yours! xo

My Airport Fashion Picks

The fine balance between travelling stylishly and comfortably is a tricky one to keep in equilibrium. I'm guessing that most celebrities got quickly bored of the fact that the airport is the new runway, but I can't get enough of airport fashion. You might hold the opinion that looking stylish can simply be reserved for your destination, but I think that airport fashion can be a fun challenge. Any chance to combine style and comfort is one I like! Below are my picks for airport style success, ideally suited for city break travel.
Airport Fashion

Current Elliott tartan plaid flannel shirt
net-a-porter.com
I'm obsessed with flannel shirts at the minute- stylish wrapped around the waist and a great layer to complete any relaxed look.

Finders Keepers ankle length skirt
collectivehabit.com
Maxi skirts are such an easy option for travel. Avoid jeans if you can. Comfier and cooler than denim, maxi skirts look good with every kind of shoe.

NIKE Roshes
selfridges.com
In my wardrobe. The comfiest shoes I own! I love the look of trainers and a skirt if done casually. Chances are, if you're going somewhere warm, these will be your bulkiest shoe- so wearing trainers keeps you comfy and saves you some valuable packing space.

River Island white glasses
riverisland.com
Sunnies are an essential for when you arrive...or just to hide tired eyes!

Topshop grey linen t-shirt
topshop.com
In my wardrobe. A loose, comfy t-shirt is a great choice for travel.

I think the key to comfort and style when travelling is most definitely layering, especially if the UK is your starting point. Keep it loose and simple, with plenty of leeway for losing some items as you touchdown someplace warmer.

#OOTD Double Print

Top: Warehouse | Trousers: Primark | Necklace: Topshop | Boots: New Look

Happy Saturday! (And Happy 4th of July to all my US readers!) Believe me when I say that this combo is me being adventurous. I would usually wear this top with a pair of jeans, or these trousers with a plain tank. I know- I dress way too safely!

I reckon the key to double printing is tying things together somehow and letting one pattern speak louder than the other. The pattern on my top is pretty minimal in order to let those trousers do the talking! I then added a hot pink bag into the mix to bring the whole thing together and ensure that each item has a 'colour pair.'

I love hot pinks and oranges for summer...but obviously gotta stay grounded with a bit of dedication to the darkest and best colour!

How do you like to style prints? Let me know! xo

#OOTD: Wrap Dress in the City

  | Dress: Red Herring | Hat: H&M Bag & Sandals: New Look |
So I actually want to be wearing this dress over a bikini on a sunny island somewhere...but I've come to the conclusion that a wrap dress can totally be city appropriate. I didn't get a picture of the back but you literally tie this thing up in a bow...it feels very 'beachy' but I am still basically living in it!

You can dress it up with a jacket and heels or opt for something much more casual- weather and location dependent! I love the delicate grey print of this one and how easy it is to wear. I'm also still very in love with this bright bag. I've seen it in a range of colours on so many blog and Instagram posts so it's clearly a summer fave!

Til next time xo

DIY No-Sew Headband & #MOTD

I was so excited when I found out that these headbands were super simple to make at home. I absolutely love them! Keep reading for instructions & makeup deets!
  1. Find an old t-shirt (check out the Halloween blood spattered one I picked out!) and cut the bottom off. The thicker you want the headband, the higher on the t-shirt you should start. Cut across in a straight line so that you're left with a circle of material.
  2. Twist the material so that you have an 'infinity' shape.
  3. Fold the two sections of the infinity to meet and there you have it!
It's that easy! I can't wait to make more...some brights and patterns would brighten up any outfit but I reckon a plain grey is a super stylish and versatile starting point if you're thinking of making one.
On my face today: This brown smokey wing is my new go-to look. Also...a shout-out to the wonderful Real Techniques Sculpting Brush (my contour is forever thankful.)
Foundation: Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude
Bronzer: MUA Shade 1
Contour: Hoola Bronzer
Brows: MUA Pro Brow Kit
Blusher: From the Revolution Hot Spice Palette
Lipstick: Revolution The One
Shadow: Revlon Colorstay Adventurous plus Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze
Mascara: Benefit Bad Gal Lash
And my earrings are from Accessorise

#OOTD Summer Details & Tiffany Blue

Hi all! The weather has perked up again- cue tanning and drinks and frisbee, lol- so thought I'd share a random outfit and its details with you. I've got my summer wardrobe out (but I'm seriously lacking in the top department- might need to go shopping, again) and bought these new sandals which I am loving. In sadder news, my favourite day-time handbag absolutely bit the dust so had to go and find a new one. I decided to go for a bright bag because I never dress all that colourfully: and whilst I was worried that I would struggle to tote a crazy blue bag around every day, I'm actually enjoying the bright bag life. It's exactly Tiffany Blue as well which is a colour I love. Details below!

#OOTD Boyfriend Jeans

Hey there lovely people! I mentioned in a previous post that I came back home for a short stay. Thought I'd share some snaps...and my struggle with jeans other than skinnies. Outfit deets below!

I find wearing boyfriend jeans really tough for some reason. I'm used to literally living in skinnies! Boyfriend jeans look best with heels I think, but I definitely didn't want anything too dressed up so wood-heel sandals were where my logic lead me. I love these because they're lace up- I'm so obsessed with lace up shoes- plus they're pretty comfy. How do you style boyfriend jeans? Let me know in the comments!

Headband: Made myself...keep eyes peeled for a DIY post!

Jeans: Dorothy Perkins
Sandals: Ugly Duckling

#OOTD Casual Friday

A casual kinda eve. The sun has disappeared again, so I've retreated into jackets. I'm obsessed with this hat but can only wear it on calm days as it's slightly too big for me! This was heading out to go and see Pitch Perfect 2. Outfit details below!

#OOTD Magnolias & A Kimono

Hi lovelies. I was in Staffordshire today seeing family and it was such a beautiful day! Magnolia trees were everywhere and I couldn't resist a photo op (they are the prettiest, after all.)

When packing to come home from uni for Easter break my mind linked 'April' with 'drip drip drop little April showers'...so none of the clothes I've brought down are really sun appropriate. To be honest, I wear black/grey pretty much every day regardless, so I don't know who I'm kidding when imagining a world in which I wear an outfit of block colours.

Instead, I went for black jeans, a vest top and this kimono. I love kimono style shawls/cardigans for when the sun is out. They make for a perfect cover-up and a way to get some print into your outfit really easily. See more pics and outfit deets below!

Golden Globes Favourites

Truthfully, it was hard finding looks I fully gave the thumbs up to at the Globes last night. There were some dreadful things, I am sorry to say. Those I like though: hello! As you can see, my picks are nude/blush pink and and dark dresses, which are basically what I always gravitate to.

Kate Beckinsale (left): Oh my gosh. Stunning. I'm pretty sure she's not human. The dress is by Elie Saab and I think that's a pretty faultless move. I love the detail that she's gone with, in that she's not been afraid to just glam it up in every element. Sparkly, luxe, fab.

Laura Prepon (centre left): Her look and her style just remind me of a beautiful evil queen. Not that she's evil, I freakin love her. She looks (glamourously) dark and mysterious (plus her hair in all its glossy raven beauty is to die for.)

Sienna Miller (centre right): Love! She looks like a tiny fairy. On a cake. Sprinkled with glitter. This Miu Miu is so dainty yet still sexy with that plunge. I' a big fan of the short crop too.

Katherine Heigl (right): This Zac Posen dress is something I genuinely lust after. That mermaid transition in the front is just *omg*.

I feel like these stars made informed choices: the looks suit their own personal style and their figures. Who were your favourites?
