I love a lush haul. Seeing as my apartment doesn't have a bath (I love my apartment but damn that missing piece makes me sad), I've stopped buying bath bombs and instead transferred my attention to Lush skincare. Here are three I've purchased recently, in an effort to exfoliate away my dull winter skin: Herbalism cleanser, Don't Look At Me face mask and Mint Julips lip scrub.

Don't Look At Me
Not gonna lie - I bought this because it's bright blue and for some bizarre reason that kind of stuff appeals to me. Aside from its colour (which is hilarious and guaranteed to scare boyfriends), this stuff is a zesty formula that really perks up your skin. The main ingredient here is lemon juice, and boy can you smell it - and there's also nourishing murumuru butter and uplifting grapefruit in there. Leave it on for 15 mins, wash away and you're left with skin that feels refreshed and super soft. I love it. See more here.

Herbalism
With nettles, rosemary and rice bran vinegar making up this formula, Herbalism feels like it's been made in a witchy forest somewhere. I've used this stuff for years - for combination and sensitive skin, it's perfect for rebalancing troublesome complexions. See it here.

Mint Julips
Lush's lip scrubs are the best I've tried. If you've got manky, chapped lips, get one of these and simply buff the gross stuff away. Some of these are pretty sickly, but this one tastes like mint choc chip and is one of my favourites. See more here.
Hoping to fuel the fan-girling further, today I'm reviewing their Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream*.

Firstly, this New Zealand brand derive 100% of their products' ingredients from nature, and 71% of these are organically cultivated. I like the fact that this range feels like it's giving you (and the planet) a little love.

The Rejoice cream claims to be a light, non-oily day cream, nutrient-rich with avocado and honey. Combined, these ingredients work to create a healthy, plumped complexion (thank the avo) that's free from blemishes (cheers, honey).

The packaging of this product is gorgeous. It's simple but modern and I love the toothpaste-esque tube: it can get a little messy since there's a lot of product tucked away in here, but I guess that's only a good thing!

The formula itself is light and softening: not matte-finish like the Manuka Honey moisturiser, but not greasy in any sense. It has a smooth finish to it, which provides the perfect base for liquid foundation. I've never seen my trusty Revlon Colorstay glide on so smoothly! The thing I love about all the Antipodes products I've tried is that you can really feel them working: whether that's drying down to a gorgeous matte finish, or plumping and invigorating the skin like this one. It feels like it's working to make you look (and feel!) that bit more alive in the mornings.

All in all, I'd recommend this product for all skin types. It's gentle and has a wonderful finish, but also makes your skin look great. Rejoice!

Have you tried this product?

These two have been knocking about for some time now and have garnered a certain hype-factor, so I thought I'd see what all the fuss was about.

The foundation firstly is designed to be a 24 hour-wear (I wouldn't recommend that) formula, best suited to oily skin that wants to stay oil-free all day long. I was a tad disappointed at the lack of colour range, but the lightest shade is okay if you're pale. The formula itself is certainly matte: once applied, it dries down to almost give the appearance of a powder foundation. Best applied with your hands or a beauty blender, it's definitely buildable; just avoid using a brush if you have fine lines or large pores, as this stuff looks most flawless when you apply it with a tool that's going to leave it looking really smooth. It's also a full coverage foundation, which I personally love.

However, I will say that this foundation is definitely only suitable or oily skin types. It's extremely drying, and can enlarge the appearance of pores. I also find it can give the skin a sallow look: you really need to build on this stuff, adding a creamier concealer. For me, this isn't really an issue: this stuff does give you a very simple base, but I'm happy to glow up with plenty of bronzer and highlighter!

The mascara is one for those of us who want long lashes. It really reminds me of Roller Lash in that sense: the brush is long and features those wonderful rubber bristles that really grab hold of every lash. As with the Benefit mascara, you have to be wary of the spidery effect: it's a very wet formula, so don't overdo it on the layers. However, I think this mascara really does have the wow factor, lengthening lashes and working almost as a comb to ensure you're free from clumps.

I am certainly a big fan of the mascara, but I might need a little more convincing with the foundation. It's gives you fantastic coverage, but I feel like the drying effect may mean I reserve it for the summer.

I totally flaked on being even a half-decent blogger over Christmas and I have no excuse so let's just leave that at that. I can't promise I'm going to be a good blogger this year, nor am I going to give a generic list of impossible resolutions for the year in this post.

I recently read The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving A F*ck by Sarah Knight: a light-hearted read all about why it's totally bloody fine to reject your co-worker's spin class invitation and other useful practices in being happy. It kind of inspired me. I reckon we should all be nicer to ourselves this year: do the things we want to do.

Never mind resolutions. I've made a nice list of things I would, indeed, like to do more in 2017.

Walk more
I bloody hate exercise. I hate talking about exercise. I'm going to stop pretending I'd like to exercise more because although I used to be decent at running and despite how much I like buying sportswear, I don't enjoy it. I do however enjoy walking. Hiking, rambling, walking down the road to Tesco and buying cake: I endeavour to do all the above more often.

Learn something new
If I were making a list of resolutions, I would say "I am going to learn to drive". However, the thought of doing so frankly terrifies me and I'm not willing to guilt myself into it. Instead, I'm going to keep it on my agenda: even if I take one lesson, chill. I'd also like to learn more about forensic science and get some new recipes under my belt.

Make a house a home
One of my favourite things that happened in 2016 was moving into my first apartment with Gil. I've been reading interior design and home magazines since I was little, and it's quickly become evident that I enjoy spending money on things for my house more than things for myself. I'm making interior decorating my new hobby, even if that just means raiding Sostrene Grene every now and again.

Make life simpler
If there's anything I learned from Knight's book, it's to make things simple. Just read the title: stop caring about what others think. Say no to stuff you don't want to do, then say yes when the events, people or things involved bring you growth or happiness. Yes, pizza fits into that bracket.

What's on your nice list?

Happy new year!

Ta-dah! Finally out of the ginger woods and into the ash blond light! I recently embarked on a blonde mission/ambition and I'm happy to say that my hair is finally where I want it to be. On a Sunday mission to find some Applewood cheese (heavenly stuff), I got my lovely weekend guest (my sister) to snap some pics of my new do. Keep reading for deets on my new hair and favourite products...

My hair colour has been a constant battle. I accidentally dyed it orange aged 13 and pretty much screwed things up from there on. Years of box dye brown could not get the warmth out of my hair, so I figured (yep, I'm almost 22 now) it was time to fix it - removing the warm tones by getting my blonde on!

My inspiration was the gorgeous Arielle Vandenburg: baby lights blended into balayage with a more solid colour at the tips, keeping natural colour at the roots so that upkeep is easy. This is the result of being slightly ginger for a month and a hell of a lot of toner: the colour is finally looking a bit more ashy.

Because my hair is damaged, I've been loving Aussie's Repair Miracle shampoo and conditioner on my blonde hair, as well as using argan oil as a mask and as an every day taming product. I'm looking in to getting some products to maintain my colour - recommendations please!
Current obsession is back! I was recently sent Antipodes' Skin Brightening Day Cream* and Skin Brightening Eye Cream* from their Manuka Honey Collection. Currently assessing whether or not I could live without one of these...

These two skin-brightening products are from a New Zealand-based skincare brand. "Scientific organic beauty" is their thing. Manuka honey is an ingredient proven to be full of antioxidants, making these two products perfect for combination/oily skin.

The eye cream
As well as honey, the eye cream also contains Persian silk flower to help hydrate. Combined, you've got a recipe to leave your under eye area smooth and replenished. The product itself is a great consistency, the colour of pale mustard (hmm, yum) and nevertheless a real treat to use. The honey smell with both these products is something I absolutely love. This stuff absorbs quickly, and certainly does leave my under eye area feeling silky smooth.

The day cream
Bee venom is one of the key ingredients besides honey in the day cream (bee venom is my thang, check this out), making it a restorative, lifting formula. Whilst the eye cream is good, the day cream is my personal fave. Scratch that, I'm totally obsessed with the stuff! It smells like a dream, and once applied it dries quickly, leaving your skin feeling completely matte but also soft. It's the perfect base for makeup, especially for those of us with oily skin who need to avoid greasy creams spoiling our chances of an oil-free face. The honey in this formula also works to tackle spots: I'm not afraid to slather this on when my skin is flaring up, as I've seen it do nothing but help the situation!

Combined, these two retail at over $100, which is something to keep in mind. The eye cream is lovely, but not as ground-breaking as the wonder that is the day cream.
As much as I love Christmas, the cold at this rate is proving plenty cold enough. Let's stay in the leather jacket and a light scarf temperatures please?

Without further ado, here are my favourite autumn decor pieces!

Candles
What else? I'm making an expensive habit of purchasing Yankee Candles like there's no tomorrow. For autumn, the Cinnamon Stick candle is perfect. I'm also obsessed with this baby mirrored candle house from my current favourite store, Sostrene Grene: it's all very "hygge", in a cosier way than other Danish stores cropping up in the UK. This little house creates a lovely reflective glow in the evenings. I bulk buy tea lights from Poundland and then there's no stopping me.

A touch of nature
Bringing a spot of the ever-changing outside inside is always a good call. For autumn, pine cones and chestnuts are a lovely way to do this. I've filled my empty fireplace with pine cones and fairy lights, as well as a large glass vase (again, Sostrene Grene) that I keep on the dining table. I love carving pumpkins and displaying them (guess which one is mine: hint, not the Simpsons one), and they can stick around after Halloween if you keep them dry and spray them with a bleach and water mixture. Another fantastic idea is making your own potpourri, though I tried to do so by drying some oranges to begin with: they looked great, but smelt gross. To Pinterest I return...

Light
Fairy lights are a given, especially around this time of year, but lamps add a certain atmosphere to bring it all together. I recently purchased this gorgeous Himalayan salt lamp on Amazon: I love the way they look and these salt lamps are also supposed to help purify the air. The soft rosy glow they give off also grants them a big autumnal thumbs up from me!
My skin needs different things as the seasons change, so I'm more than happy to investigate and experiment to see if I can find something I want to pledge my allegiance to. Nevertheless, my Botanics' All Bright Cleanser certainly isn't getting traded in any time soon, and I'm also borderline obsessed with these guys: today I'm reviewing Nip + Fab's Glycolic Fix Scrub.

I have plenty of product reviews from this line (see here) (and here), and I love trying new things from the range. They target so many different ailments, and they're especially good for problematic, acne-prone skin. This scrub claims to be a facial polish that cleanses pores with the use of glycolic and 3% salicylic acid to brighten and renew. These ingredients in any skincare product always makes me sit up straight and pay attention: if you have oily, blemish-prone skin like me, you definitely want to get these two involved in your regime.

This scrub is no exception to the rule of get those acids on your skin now. In terms of application, it's a pleasant product to use with a lovely grapefruit scent and grainy exfoliating particles which really work to buff away dead skin. It's an amazing exfoliator, leaving the skin soft and mattified.

In terms of results, I started putting this to use in the midst of a horrible breakout: I had a spell of those blemishes that lie under the surface of the skin and make your life a misery. These acne spells are likely to leaving scarring when they finally relax their ugly hold on your face (if you know, you know), so I always want to make sure I look after them properly. This scrub (used every two days so as not to totally dry my skin out) made the recovery time on this problematic area much faster than I'd ever before experienced. When you exfoliate with these acids, the blemishes lose their raised texture, making it so much easier to cover them up as well as encouraging a faster healing process.

Remember to moisturise after using this product, as I have found it can leave your skin flaky if you leave it to dry out. All in all, I absolutely recommend this if you experience painful break outs that need a little encouragement in order to heal smoothly.

I miraculously seem to have a Saturday afternoon to myself for the first time in a few weeks, so I'm sitting down to share one of my current faves with y'all. If you have oily skin, you deffo want to read on (I swear I say this all the time, my main mission seems to be operation shine-free). I've cracked it. I've got it. A powder that doesn't cost the earth but keeps you impressively matte for the major part of the day!

GOSH Prime n Set Powder is a translucent two in one primer and powder. I'm reviewing it purely as a setting powder however, seeing as it's only suitable for priming with if you use mineral foundation, which I don't. I've nevertheless always had trouble finding an affordable powder that doesn't leave that cakey cast behind, no matter what shade you've chosen.

This powder itself is super fine, which means it blends beautifully onto the skin. It's got a velvety finish, which is such a nice change from some of the chalkier products I've tried in the past.

The best thing about this product is the magic of its application: instead of leaving any powdery whiteness behind as you may expect, it simply takes the shine from foundation (freshly applied or throughout the day) and makes it vanish. There's no colour alteration or added texture; instead, your skin looks and feels soft and smooth. My makeup barely strays over the day, and whilst a touch up will keep you super shine-free, a morning application is still pretty darn powerful.

I hope everyone had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK! With a fair few clothing deliveries arriving at my house (end of the month splurging is my current favourite habit, apparently) I decided to take this lovely wrap dress for a spin around Nottingham's Arboretum for some sunshine and a picnic. One of my favourite and most affordable purchases I've made recently, this dress is seeing me nicely through the last dregs of summer. When autumn arrives, the tights and boots will be at the ready to pair it with!

When the heatwave hit England a few weeks back, I had to seriously step my skincare game up. My foundation had been migrating away from the centre of my face by midday: never a good look, but one I'm sure anyone with oily skin can relate to. I made my way into town to purchase my trusty Shine Away Gel by Botanics, only to discover that it had been discontinued in the past month. Still hurting here Boots. Fix it please.

Left abandoned by my favourite product, I was looking for skincare that was going to keep oil at bay for a reasonable price. Meet Garnier's Moisture Matte and Nivea's Regenerating Night Cream for combination skin.

The Moisture Matte is a day cream that contains a green tea extract that looks to keep skin smooth and mattified. I love the way this product feels on the skin: it has an unusal texture to it, but that's the micro-spheres that work to ensure it absorbs quickly. You can apply your foundation within twenty seconds of its application, with no risk of things getting chalky or cakey. Everything applies smoothly on top of this, and I've found that your makeup doesn't have that immediate dry look that can sometimes come about with mattifying prep products. There's no risk of a greasy face either: your skin may have a slight shine to it by the end of the day if you've powdered, but nothing ever gets to a hot mess kind of level with this stuff!

With night creams, I often find it's hard to find something suitable for oilier skin types. This was the best I could do in the drugstore, and even then it states it's suitable for combination skin, not oily. Nevertheless, we all need intense moisture to our skin at night to make sure it regenerates properly, and that's exactly what the Nivea Regenerating Night Cream looks to do! Once applied, your skin will feel smooth and soft: not greasy in the slightest. I think this cream is excellent, especially if you suffer from skin that's prone to redness or has an uneven pigmentation: you'll wake up with skin that looks even and refreshed. I'm used to waking up with oily skin thanks to the warm nights we're getting, but I've certainly noticed that oil levels are kept to a minimum when this cream is on duty.

Here you can see the kind of textures these creams are: the day cream is light and creamy and the night cream is thick but kind of fluffy! With oily skin it's so hard to find affordable skincare that doesn't turn you into a greasy mess and also just feels nice to wear, though I can certainly vouch for these two. They also work well together and my skin has been super well behaved recently in terms of break outs. Win win.
A working zip was also on the agenda in my search, after spending a month convinced I'd dropped my purse a few streets back since the contents of my bag was pretty much free game. Despite the hefty checklist, the Fiorelli Carlton Tote pulled through: I treated myself for the first time since starting work and dayum did it feel good!

Shopper and tote bags are everywhere at the minute, and I can see why: if your handbag is anything like mine, it's never half full. Mainly consisting of junk, my bag often takes on the role of the miscellaneous drawer: half-working headphones just in case the current ones bite the dust? Five combs? All that change you mean to put in a pot so that it doesn't just weigh you down? Sure. Why not. In you go.

With this in mind, the Fiorelli Carlton seemed to fit the bill. With three compartments instead of one to reduce to urge to, well, make your life a whole lot harder, this bag essentially forces you to keep things tidy. The straps are the perfect length for carrying or wearing, plus there are some great zips and detailing: I'm kind of obsessed.
Cleaning makeup brushes is an annoying task, and the fact that extra products are required to complete it just makes it even more arduous. Hold up! I think I've found a brush cleaner that's affordable and doubles up as another product. Hello, L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Shampoo!

I bought this shampoo when my hair was at its most damaged, and it certainly helped things out a bit: however, seeing as my hair gets oily and it's now summer, I had to switch things up as it's a super moisturising product. I left it in my bathroom to gather dust.

One day when washing my brushes, I grabbed this: I used to wash my brushes with pretty much whatever was around, as well as a bit of olive oil to keep them from drying out, but it got a little messy.

The Extraordinary Oil range is super nourishing, containing six flower extracts, but it's also great at cleansing. It really lathers on the brushes, better than I've seen with some branded brush cleansers, and to my delight I could actually remove every single drop of product that's nestled into the hairs. If your brushes seem to be permanently stained with foundation, trust me, they'll look good as new!

It also helps that this shampoo smells absolutely gorgeous, and doesn't leave any greasy residue on your tools. Pretty proud of this discovery, not gonna lie.
Face brushes are important. They can really change the way your products work for you, so it's worth the search (progress: still ongoing). Here are the brushes I currently can't live without (from top to bottom):

1. Foundation brush - XCSource Kabuki Brush
Yes, I have tried a load of the face brushes that can be acquired via the big wide world of Amazon and yes, most of them are rubbish. However, this foundation brush actually rocks my world. I've had it for over a year and it still hasn't shed a single hair. The perfect density for applying foundation, this brush is an absolute favourite.

2. Bronzer brush - Eco Tools Precision Blush Brush
Eco Tools brushes are the best: sustainably made and super soft. This brush is a great size for bronzing, especially if you want a bit of control in your application (those big bronzer brushes annoy the hell out of me).

3. Contour brush - Real Techniques Sculpting Brush
If you love cream contour, get this brush in your life. It's super dense, so perfect for a smooth application. It also works really hard for you in terms of blending, so much so that it can double up as a foundation brush.

4. Liquid product brush - Mii Perfect Base Brush
This brush is intended for foundation, but I love it for cream blush and liquid highlighter most of all. It's a really gentle brush so perfect for blending in liquid products seamlessly and ensuring they don't move around too much in the process. Pick up a bit of cream blush and highlighter on the brush at the same time and thank me later: you'll be obssessed with the pigmented glow it brings to your cheeks.

What's on your brow wishlist? I know mine: gloriously full, sharp enough to kill and with a heavy dose of insta-esque ombre-ness. If the nature of the last wish evades you, good: save yourself from near-impossible eyebrow goals. Benefit's Ready, Set, Brow does however attempt to fulfill some of these wishes, especially for those of us who want flawless brows all day. My hand is well and truly raised. Available free with Marie Claire this month, this brow setting gel claims to give you picture perfect arches "from working to twerking" - hmm, their marketing team needs to calm down a little I feel. Nevertheless, I put it to the test: whilst working, definitely not whilst twerking.

The latest addition to Benefit's ever-expanding brow product collection is a clear brow gel that claims to provide 24-hour staying power to your brows. You can use it alone, or as a way of setting the products you apply to your brows. It's supposed to define your brows even more than when using coloured products alone.

The packagaing is seriously gorgeous. Benefit smash it on packaging every single time. This silver bottle weighs next to nothing and looks like something straight out of a Disney princess bedroom. Sleeping Beauty probs took a break from being comatose to set her brows, okay.

Personally, if I use a setting product on my brows, I use a waxier formula (from MUA's Pro Brow Kit) before powder products so that they glide on super smoothly. A brow gel, therefore, felt a little weak in comparison in terms of application. It didn't appear to do much, but I was willing to let it set and see how it performed.

The brush itself has two sides, one with finer bristles than the other so that you can really get to those tiny stubborn hairs. I like this factor, and it means that you can acheive some volume.

And yeah, sure, it keeps brow hairs sitting where they ought to. Maybe I'm blessed with tame brows, but I just don't think this product is all that necessary. Maybe I'm just not an advocate for brow gel, but do people's eyebrows really move? I'm thinking of dancing eyebrows right now, but if you pluck your brows/get them done then I don't really see why this product should be in existence. Maybe I'm wrong, but if you can use a spooly, comb the hairs into place and they sit pretty nicely, don't bother purchasing this.

Just to add a little more madness to this product, Benefit have priced it at £18.50 (am I the only person who is going what the hell?). Don't throw away your money: instead, purchase one of Benefit's many actually purposeful and excellent products: Roller Lash, High Beam and Hoola will always be close to my heart, but I can live without a (very pretty) pot of clear gel.
The world's no pjs at 3pm rule is really bloody hard to abide by.

Quick life update: I graduated with a first in English from Nottingham University and I'm currently interning at a restaurant guide for the next two months (one month already down!). I'm bloody chuffed. Despite the fact I feel as though I've had to "adult" rather quickly, I'm surprised at how much I like it. That doesn't mean it's easy: by the time I'm home, fed, OITNB-ed and GoT-ed, I'm absolutely ready to sleep. However, after a month on the job, I'm getting more and more used to being a real human and thought I'd share some fresh out of the experience kind of tips. Welcome to Getting to Nomi's Intern Diaries*: here's what I learnt in my first week.

*Consistency dependent on success and levels of exhaustion.

1. Getting up early isn't that bad
After living for a few years with very few hard hitting commitments (my lecture attendance became a bit of a myth, I can't lie), I had some pretty hideous mornings waking up after dreaming I'd just not rocked up to work. Evidently, the thought of getting up early is enough to wake me, in a cold sweat, at 5am. That's one way to do it, I guess? Honestly though, once you've been up for ten minutes, had a shower and a coffee, you'll be okay: tease yourself out of bed with the promise of a nice breakfast or a doughnut on the way to work because what the hell.

2. You need comfy shoes
Even if you spend most of your time at a desk, the wrong shoes are enough to ruin your day (and your feet). Buy something comfy, even if that means something ugly.

3. Always check the bus timetable
Rocking up with seconds to spare on your first day isn't the best start, but yep you guessed it, been there done that. The driver crawling down every street as though he's trying to stop at every red light is enough to drive anyone's anxiety through the roof, so take a minute to check: even if you think you know, smarty pants.

4. Take notes
You'll be bombarded with passwords, logins and general info on how to do stuff, so write it down. You might feel like an idiot journo, but seriously, you'll feel like more of an idiot asking for the password the next day (me). Bring something cute to write your oh-so-important notes down in - trip to Hema? Yes please.

5. Ask questions or regret it later
If I'm queen of anything, I'm Queen of Saying I'm Okay I Got It When I'm Drowning In a Pit Of Confusion. I do it all the time, in so many situations: I'd rather pretend that I've got it than admit I absolutely don't got it. Working on it. I spent my first week furiously battling with myself and Google to understand Photoshop. I could have just asked; when I did, I picked it up in five minutes and subsequently felt so much more confident. People want you to ask questions, so ask them.

Seeing as I was almost out of perfume entirely, I popped into the store round the corner from where I work (the usually crazy Zara goes dead at 5:30pm - heaven!) and bought the first one that took my fancy: Zara Apple Juice, costing just £7.99.

Apple perfume doesn't sound like my thing either, don't worry.

Instead of the sickly DKNY Be Delicious kind of scent that obviously springs to mind, this scent is a lot more fresh. Less candy apple, more summery and light. It definitely reminds me of Marc Jacobs Daisy, and I'm going to go as far as to call it a dupe. Yes! For £7.99! It smells kind of like a field. A nice, fresh field. Less roll with that.

As the sun comes out and we say hello to summer, this fragrance is a perfect choice. Not going to lie, it's not super long wearing: a little touch of vaseline to the wrists before application helps it stick around a bit longer though (tip of the day, eh). Nevertheless, for the price, it's a great buy and a mentionable dupe.
Literally all the things. However, when it comes to contouring, I see so many tiny perfect noses being contoured and think well, that's not gonna work for me.

My nose isn't symmetrical, so I've had to employ a few tricks that the beauty gurus with perfectly straight noses don't take into consideration. Please also remember that some people just have noses that look better without contour: don't follow trend if it doesn't work for you!

Products used:
Revlon Colorstay foundation in Buff + concealer in Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte powder in Translucent
Naked Naked 2 shadow
Benefit High Beam highlighter

1. I start off by applying my foundation and concealer as I normally would do. I then set this with powder. If you're doing cream contour, you wouldn't normally set your base beforehand, but I find cream contour and powder contour to be a little too intense. I stick with the latter, and set everything before I go in and sculpt.

2. I then use a matte, cool-tone contour shade. I've recommended this shadow from Naked (especially for pale people) but honestly, you probably already own a shadow in this kind of range. Just make sure it's cool tone in order to mimick the shadows of your face.

3. Using a shadow brush and making sure I tap off any excess (otherwise it will get muddy), I define the shape I want my nose to be. I take the shadow under the base of my nose to shorten it, then follow this with the two parallel lines that I follow up to my brows (some people like to take these lines into the eye crease, but that hollows my face out too much). Because one side of my nose is sort of wonky, I pay most attention to this side by filling in the "gap" (see what I mean, where my nose kind of trails off? Lol) and bringing the contour closer to the centre to give the appearance of a straighter nose. If your nose isn't symmetrical, that's the tip you need: bring the contour lines closer together to focus on the centre (creating a straight nose!).

4. I then take the setting powder over the contour once again to soften any harsh lines.

5. Finally, I dot a tiny amount of highlighter along the non-contoured area of my nose. This has a lifting affect that brings everything together.

I repeat, nose contour is not for everyone! If you do fancy it though, go in with a gentle hand and practice. Take pictures. As any Clueless fans will know, you can't trust mirrors.

Herbal Essences Clearly Naked Review

Confession: I hate dry shampoo. If my hair is looking bad I'd rather forgo the extra half hour in bed and wash it. However, I've recently been trying to take care of my hair a little more, and this means trying to avoid washing it every day and stripping it of the good oils that keep it protected.

It's been so longed since I purchased dry shampoo that I didn't even realise so many brands had released their own (I thought Batiste was the only kind!). Intrigued, I picked up Herbal Essences Clearly Naked.

This dry shampoo is honestly one of the best products I've tried recently, mainly because it smells so damn good. It's a paraben-free formula infused with natural tapioca: it has a minty, citrus scent that centainly adds to the effect of your hair feeling fresh after use. I can't lie: it's so much nicer than the slightly sickly, fruity scents of Batiste.

The formula itself is super lightweight and refreshing. Let's be honest, we all forget to shake these things, but I've never experienced this product leaving behind a white cast on the hair. One of the reasons I hate using dry shampoo usually is because you can feel the product sitting in your hair: it reminds you of how dirty your hair actually is! This formula definitely leaves a fresher finish.

Finally, I think it's a great product to use if you want a little texture to the hair. It definitely gives the roots a boost: I'm kind of addicted, can you tell? I'm going to be using this every day at the rate it's going!

Long time no blog! Excuses are boring but I've been cooped up in the
library nursing my final uni essays into completion and not
brushing my hair. Honestly, blogging about beauty has been the last
thing on my mind.

Nevertheless, I've purchased some gems recently so figured it's time to procrastinate and share them with you. Hope you enjoy!

Balance Me Radiance Face Mask - £18.00
This has to be my absolute favourite skincare product at the minute. It contains a fruit acid complex and walnut extract to buff away dead cells and reveal glowing new skin. It's recommended for dull combination skin, since it brightens but also balances: I have sensitive skin and it doesn't leave my face sore at all, which is something I struggle to find in exfoliating masks. You leave it on for five minutes, wash away in circular motions to get the benefits of the exfoliating ingredients, and your skin is left looking super healthy and gorgeous. If you still need to shake off that dry winter skin, get this in your life.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation - £12.99
I realise that I rave about this product way too much, but look! It's got a pump! Revlon finally listened and now my absolute fave doesn't make me want to throw the glass bottle at the wall when it starts running low. I wear the combination/oily formula in Buff and will do until someone finds me something better.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer - £23.50
I caved and brought this baby back into my life. I've been trying to find a dupe for absolutely ages (the closest I've got is Maybelline Master Sculpt, but it still doesn't quite cut it) and exhausted, I made the purchase. This bronzer is so perfectly smooth and the ideal chocolatey bronze for skin that's fair to medium. No regrets!

Eco Tools Precision Blush Brush - £7.99
My brush collection is the one thing I'm always adding to: recently, my lack of 'fluffy' brushes was letting me down, so I went out and purchased this one from Eco Tools. It's pretty much the perfect brush for any powder blush or bronzer, with the dense/fluffy ratio at a perfect balance (it's a science, right?).
I've long wanted to visit Nottingham's Kitty Cafe, so when my sister came for a short stay this week I decided it was finally time to fulfil dreams. If there's one thing I learnt from this visit, it's that cats are extremely difficult to photograph (unless they're staring pensively outside) ...
Kitty Cafe is a restaurant and rehoming centre for cats and kittens, which is pretty awesome as it means you can go in, get to know the cats, enjoy tea and cake and then potentially take one home one day! There were even some super tiny kittens, but they were far too crazy to even consider getting a photo of. Anyway, here are a few snaps. Would highly recommend a visit!
Thanks to the lovely Gabrielle (A Glass of Ice) and The Sunglasses Shop, I've chosen the Ray-Ban 4221 Shot Red Rubber shades* to take me through spring and summer.

I'd must admit, my go-to shades are usually a lot less crazy than these (I'm more of a classic brown tortoiseshell girl), but my neutral wardrobe welcomes colourful accessories with open arms.

The sunglasses themselves have an orange/red mirrored lens, classic Wayfarer frames with a slightly winged edge and sleek metal temples. So many people have commented on them (and yes, politely snatched them off my face to try them on themselves) and I must say, they have looked great on a range of face shapes. They're not the sunglasses to choose if you simply want to hide tired eyes and blend into the crowd, believe me!
I was beyond excited to spend time with her, eat some crepes and drink large glasses of wine. Only fair, right?

Apologies if this diary seems a little like "look at these pictures",
but we really did intend to fill two days with as many sights as we
could. I'll try and make it slightly useful, but seriously, Paris is
just extremely lovely to look at.
We spent our morning wandering around the Notre Dame and visiting Shakespeare & Company, an independent book store that has housed many famous writers and controversial books over the past century. We then took a wander to l'Arc de Triomphe, which to my surprise, you can visit the top of! If you're not afraid of heights/cold wind, I'd definitely recommend it. Be prepared for a Lemony-Snicket-esque staircase and an amazing view...
On the second day we managed to fit into our morning the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg and the Musée d'Orsay with its glorious golden-flower ceiling. It used to be a train station, it's filled with art and the hot chocolate on the top floor cafe is essentially pure liquid cocoa. So many good things rolled into one!
We'd all done the Eiffel tower before, so didn't feel as though we were missing out by avoiding it, and to be honest I reckon Paris looks a lot better outside of it. It's a beautiful city to explore - I was constantly looking up - and I don't think you need to be really high in a tourist trap to realise that. It sure does look pretty lit up at night though!

And I haven't even discussed food yet. We had delicious meals at Le Brasserie Gaîté, Cafe Hugo on the Place des Vosges (my fave) and Le Creperie Bretonne, pretty much all of which included crepes and wine. Consistency in these fields is key.

Things to do:

Try and speak some French. The French like it and it's good for you.

Get up high, but it doesn't have to be via the Eiffel Tower.

The Metro was pretty complicated, and if I visited again minus an expert I'd have very little sense of direction. It is however a really easy and cheap way to get about, so get a map and read up a little if you're going it alone. And take a ride on a double decker train, because they're never not going to be fun.

Rue de la Paix is the perfect place for window shopping. Chanel, Tiffany and gigantic chocolate eggs at Les Marquis de Ladurée.

Eat crepes and macaroons and drink hot chocolate because when else?

As an unemployed student, I don't go near the CT counter very often (I just browse online and cry instead, as with many things), so I am pretty much feeling like a proud mother. This is Charlotte Tilbury's Very Victoria Matte Revolution lipstick.

I took it on a night out the other day and the frantic palpitations that occured when I thought I'd lost it were something else. Don't take expensive lipsticks on nights out my friends. Don't put yourself at risk.
Like seriously, look how gorgeous it is. This is meant to be a review but honestly I'm kind of here just to gush. Let me gush. Is that okay? Thanks, won't be long.

The Matte Revolution lipstick prides itself on being long-lasting formula but with a cashmere-cream texture. The lipstick itself contains papaya and orchid in order to hydrate, giving lips a fuller appearance.

I wouldn't really call this lipstick matte, but it's almost there. The main advantage of this is that it's super comfortable to wear but you don't have to stress too much about it fading.

The colour is a prettier version of the Kylie-Jenner-esque lip that still seems to be in. It's a lot more pink, but it reminds me of Wet n Wild's Bare It All, which is one of my most-worn lipsticks. It's a fraction of the price too, so could be seen as an alternative.

This lipstick definitely has a plumping effect. I would say you don't even need liner with it, as it doesn't move around too much and already gives you the appearance of fuller lips.

The packaging is a gorgeous rose gold colour which really stands out from anything else I've ever seen/owned/lusted over.
